Over the past two years, the Phi Sigma Pi, Alpha Tau Chapter Endowment Fund, Inc has awarded five (5) scholarships to deserving students in the tri-state region, worth $500 each. Thus far, the Fund has given out $2500 in scholarship money, and most of the students have used the money towards their enrollment fees to secure their places at school. Currently, all five (5) students are attending college and excelling in numerous ways. Take a look at some of their accomplishments.
Tiante Baylor of Washington, DC, is a freshman at Virginia State University and is studying Sports Management. She was also awarded the Eli Broad Scholarship and named Salutatorian of her high school graduating class.
Marnika Kitchings of Washington, DC, is a freshman at Claflin University , where she is majoring in Business with a concentration in Finance. She also received the following scholarships: DC Tuition Assistance Grant, Bill & Melinda Gates Scholarship, HEW Federal Credit Union Scholarship, and a PEPCO Scholarship.
Brittany Govan of Washington, DC attends Bennett College for Women, majoring in Elementary Education. She is currently a member of the Washington , DC /Maryland Students Association, and will serve as Secretary for this year’s Student Council Association of Educators.
Martinette Jennifer of Washington, DC attends Bowie State University , majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. She has maintained a high grade point average and is on the Dean’s List for 2008-2009 school year.
Dionte McFadden of Washington, DC is a freshman at Howard University , majoring in Public Relations. He received several scholarships – enough to finance his entire first year of college.
